When an animated feature commands over 97 million Philippine pesos during its opening weekend, you know it struck a nerve. Forgotten Island secured the number one ranking at the local box office for two consecutive weeks following its September 23, 2026 release. DreamWorks' signature lighthearted humor remains intact, but the stakes feel different here. For players at Betso88 who appreciate high-tension situations, the movie's wild premise offers a familiar kind of suspense, wrapping survival and mystery in a brightly colored package.
The buzz began months earlier. Work-in-progress screenings first showed up at CinemaCon on April 15, 2026, and later at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Audiences immediately noticed the distinct art direction. Early trailers revealed bizarre, vibrant creatures roaming a strange yet lively environment. It set up a fast-paced survival narrative that felt fresh, blending danger with an unmistakable visual charm.
In the Philippines, excitement peaked with a "purple carpet" event on August 25, 2026. Voice actors Liza Soberano and H.E.R., alongside filmmakers Joel Crawford and Filipino co-director Januel Mercado, greeted fans under the #ForgottenIslandPH banner. A nationwide promotional push even included an Adventure Bundle tie-in running through October 31. Fans were drawn to the clever environmental design of the island itself, where the protagonist uncovers hidden secrets while fighting to survive and re-examining their own identity.
The global rollout culminated in a massive red-carpet world premiere on September 23 at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles. The voice cast, featuring Lea Salonga, Dolly de Leon, Dave Franco, Manny Jacinto, Jo Koy, Jenny Slate, Ronny Chieng, Kevin McCann, and P-pop group BINI, celebrated the massive effort required to bring this story to life. The North American theatrical run followed shortly after on September 25.
